After 8+ years designing at marketplace scale — over 1,000 product detail pages and 2,000 ad banners for Flipkart and Amazon — one pattern is painfully clear: most Indian D2C brands don't have a design problem. They have a conversion problem that happens to look like a design problem. The homepage isn't why customers leave. The third checkout step is.

Founders hire agencies to make things prettier. They should be hiring someone who's seen what actually converts — at the scale where Flipkart and Amazon have already A/B-tested most of the answers. Prettier without converting is expensive decoration.

A — Awareness

Do they even get here?

Meta and Google ad creative, landing page match, mobile load performance, first-impression trust signals. Most brands over-invest in ad spend and under-invest in the seconds after a click.

I — Interest

Do they stay?

Category architecture, PDP clarity, product photography hierarchy, social proof placement, FAQ friction. The Indian shopper hesitates earlier than the US shopper. Design should anticipate it.

P — Purchase

Do they buy?

Cart UX, checkout step architecture, COD vs prepaid nudges, address form friction, payment method coverage. This is where 70% of conversion revenue is won or lost.

L — Loyalty

Do they return?

Post-purchase experience, order tracking UX, returns clarity, email and WhatsApp touchpoints, repeat-purchase surface design. The second purchase costs a fraction of the first — if the design earns it.
